Christmas in Illinois

Christmas will be very different next year. We hope. There’ll be no white Christmas, no stockings hung by the chimney with care, no Christmas lights or hot chocolate and we can’t wait! Yes, we’ll miss our families and holiday traditions that bring back special childhood memories but nothing can compare to obeying our Lord and telling others in Malawi why Jesus came to earth as a baby.

We want to thank the Coopers for meeting with us during this busy holiday season. Thank you for the encouragement and prayers! You both are a huge blessing. We are also excited to share that our transportation fund (airplane tickets etc.) is getting there! God is faithful! We will be able to purchase tickets to Malawi when our monthly support reaches 80%. Right now our monthly support is at 40%. Thank you to all who are supporting us financially and in prayer. We also have had many people ask to be on our prayer team which is so encouraging and needed. If anyone is interested in being on our “weekly warriors prayer team” please just let us know so we can get you some information and a calendar.

Please pray for us as we...

continue to raise prayer and financial support

raise Lyzee to follow after God

prepare spiritually for leading the discipleship ministry in Blantyre.

Thank you all and Happy New Year!!!

How do you say........

Moni (Hello)

Muli bwanji? (How are you?)

Ndiri bwino (I am fine)

This is Chichewa, the Malawian language that we are trying to learn. Right now we only have a few vocab flash cards that we are practicing and we’re guessing at the pronunciation. We know that a HUGE part of the ministry will be learning this language so that we can connect with the people in Blantyre on a heart to heart level. (It’s hard to disciple someone when you don’t know their language.) So to be as prepared as possible our mornings consist of feeding Lyzee, lots of coffee and a quick Chichewa vocab quiz game, loser changes diapers. When we get to Malawi we’ll have a tutor help us learn and use the language. I’m sure Lyzee will be correcting our shaky Chichewa in no time.

Praise the Lord that He is bringing in our support through our financial and prayer team. We are still meeting with family and friends who are interested in the discipleship/evangelism ministry in Blantyre. Currently, we have about 30% of our monthly support. So, we still have a long way to go, but God is providing through people like you! Please pray for us as we wait on the Lord and stay faithful to share what He is doing in Malawi. Our hearts burn to get there!

Happy Thanksgiving and ......zikomo (thank you)!

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100

We are so thankful to my parents, Cornerstone, Erin, Jodie, Jen and Michael, Laura and Jon, Tammi, Rachel, Kristy, Rachel, Molly, Laura and The Garage for praying for us and for the ministry in Malawi. We were so blessed by all your encouragement and support! We are so happy to tell you that we are at 20% of our financial goal and have we have 8 people on our prayer team. We still need some more financial support and prayer support. If anyone is interesting in joining our team for Malawi let us know!

Our presentation at Cornerstone Baptist Church last Sunday went very well. We were able to explain the discipleship ministry in Malawi that we will be heading up and Luke gave a charge/challenge to all in attendance to live this vapor of a life remembering that salvation is not just for us but we were saved by Jesus Christ's blood SO THAT all nations can glorify God. God has blessed us in many different ways! But He did not bless us just to bless us. No, He blessed us SO THAT He might be glorified and worshiped in all the world. We have a responsibility to use the blessings to spread His glory! How are you using the blessings He has given you for His glory in the nations. Psalm 62:1-2 "God be gracious to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us- that your way may be know on the earth, your salvation among all nations".

Arizona Trip

Thank you to Bud and Ruth, Mark and Rachael, Loren and Rachel, Joel and Hannah, Elena, Trevor and Kelly and Lori!! You all made our trip to the Grand Canyon state and southern California so eventful! We loved catching up with you all and talking about what God is doing in Malawi. We were so encouraged through your prayers. You all bent over backwards for us and our little Lyzee. We can't thank you enough. May God bless you with wisdom and more of Himself as you seek out His will.

We finished our first support raising trip! God truly blessed us with amazing friends. We feel so encouraged and lifted up in prayer. God has clearly shown us how the body of Christ works by using spiritual gifts to support and love one another so that Christ is glorified. Our ministry is now. We are praying that through conversations others will be set on fire to spend themselves on the lost and hurting so that they might also come to know and glorify God.

Please pray for us as we continue support ministry. We will be talking to the mission board of Cornerstone Baptist Church (The church body Becca grew up in) and presenting on Sunday evening the 17th. Thank you again for praying for us!!!

Please join us in prayer

Please pray for us as we...
meet with supporters
make a prayer team
travel to visit different supporters and churches
prepare papers for living in Malawi
plan out the soccer ministry
study and prepare for discipling youth
take time off work to visit family and friends
pray and fast for God to do mighty things through the ministry in Malawi
prepare to be away from family
raise our daughter overseas

Pray for Malawi as they...
fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic
struggle with preventable diseases
have over 1 million orphans because of AIDS
build the Church
share the gospel
work with the Hope For AIDS program
have other missionaries there right now
build up the next generation

Who will stand before God for these people?

God works through believers who come to the throne and never let God rest because they do not keep silent. Isaiah 62:1-7

vs 6-7
On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who remind the Lord, take no rest for yourselves; And give Him no rest until He establishes And makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

Like Jacob would not let go until he received a blessing, let us pray with the same intensity and give Him no rest.

Sharing the Vision with Friends and Family

We have our prayer cards! SIM sent us our beautiful prayer cards, we are legit! After giving out some of the cards we feel like real missionaries. SIM also sent us our mission video to show to churches. I remember watching missionary slideshows and videos on Sunday nights when I was little and now we are showing our missionary video too. I pray that God uses it to inspire little ones to follow Him wherever He leads.
We are now meeting with friends and family to share what God has done, is doing and will do in Malawi. Every time we talk about the youth evangelism/discipleship soccer outreach we get more excited to go! We are praying that God does mighty things with this ministry, that the fruit be miraculous! God can turn all of Malawi to Himself, just like the Ninevites, and use them to change all of Africa and the world. Pray with us that God will be glorified and worshiped in Malawi. Pray for the Church in Malawi that they follow and obey God completely so that unbelievers turn to Him.

Training for the Journey and beyond

Thank you for joining us on this adventure. We are honored that you choose us to inform you on the amazing things God is doing in and through the Body in Malawi. Luke, Lyzee and I just returned August 2nd from training in North Carolina with Serving In Mission (SIM). This was a time of preparation and encouragement. We were able to meet some amazing women, men and families who love Christ and obey Him without hinderance. After two weeks of living in community with these kindred spirits it's hard not to see them everyday.
August flew by and now it is the busy month of September. This month and the ones to follow will be full of building a support team to take this journey with us. God has placed wonderful, loving people in our life to encourage us and to teach us what it means to live out the Gospel. We strongly believe that because God is and models perfect community within Himself, so we are called to be in community; to encourage, speak truth, and to use our spiritual gifts so that Christ is glorified and all nations will worship Him.
So thank you for holding our family up through your prayers, friendship, and support!
